olive: franklin family photographer

sweet little Olive just turned ONE!  I can not believe it!  she was just a month old newborn itty bitty at my wedding and the last time I photographed her she wasn’t even sitting up! Now she’s all walkin’ and owning every room she’s in.  Her eyes are simply beautiful and she just oozes cuteness.

it was such a pretty day we couldn’t help but get pictures with her big brother Eli and mom too…

thanks Ryan, Eli, and Olive for letting me capture these sweet memories and spend a lovely morning with you three!  I love your family and your fun kiddos!

daily life: the first anniversary

photo courtesy of mary rosenbaum photographs

whew. first year down!  as of today, I have officially been married a year!  in some ways it was a super fast year, in other ways, it really seems like an entire year of my life is in the books and it was completely different from all of the rest.  I am so thankful for all of you who have continued to walk along side us during this first year…and to all those we have met along the way!

to my husband and dear friend, josh: thank you for continually choosing to love me each and every day…despite tears, pain, and having our house on the market 10 of the first 12 months of marriage and having to make our bed every …EVERY day…you constantly remind me of your love for me.  you make me a better person and keep me focused, grounded, and hopeful of a bright future full of many many memories together and a life time of love. here’s to another year in the books!

daily life: storms make the best sunsets

nashville has certainly received its fair share of rain already considering our spring seemed to sprung rather early.  last week was certainly one of those weeks.  thursday, to be exact. strong storms.  josh and I were meeting for dinner and then heading to a movie.  well, the storms outside and the storms around our life seemed to take president over the movie, so after solving all the worlds problems we decided to just head home.  about that same time the storms past and this is what was left in the place of darkness, thunder, and rain…

such a peaceful sunset.  such a beautiful reminder that our troubles…our storms, rain clouds, plans…are all light and momentary and this, this wonderful, restful, colorful, peaceful sunset…

is what waits for us on the other side.

becca and marty: engagement

“We met in the church choir.”  I knew we would hit it off.  My love for church choirs is something fierce…and when Becca told me that’s how she and Marty met, I knew all things after that moment would be awesome.  Becca and Marty both attend the church I grew up and will be getting married there in August.  To say I’m excited to photograph their wedding is an understatement.  The words yellow, harry potter, and bow ties have all been discussed.  people, get ready, this is going to be one.fun.day.  and just to prove to you how fun, here is a little sneak peek from our engagement session with the two of them  last weekend.  rain couldn’t keep these sweet smiles away…

Becca and Marty, you two are just the coolest and cutest and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for your lives together!  I can’t wait to celebrate with you in August!

james at 3 months: nashville family photographer

I can not believe how fast little babies grow up!  I can’t imagine how much faster it would seem if it were my own children…but I’m honored I get to document the growth spurts and changes of life in the first few months.  If you remember, sweet baby james from back in december,  he was such an itty bitty little baby.  Now, he is 3 months and full of smiles, grins, and loving life.

Spring has come a tad bit early this year in Nashville so we were excited to actually be outside and enjoy the nice weather with Jeremy, Cheryl, and James.

What a sweet family!  I can’t wait to continue to watch hime grow!

daily life: he loves me a lot

I was elated yesterday to be driving home from work in daylight!  It does my heart lots of good to not drive home in the dark.  The light was just perfect as I turned on to our little street full of cute little houses and I thought to myself, “do it, or you’ll regret it!”

Our house is on the market and we are hopefully looking to move south of the city and have a bit more space.  That doesn’t mean, however, that I don’t LOVE our house and the older neighborhood that we live in.  So, as we “hopefully” near the end of our time there I’m challenged to make the most of what we have left in our first home together. So, as I rush in the door and without even saying hello to my husband I ask, “hey, do you want to grab Dylan and go outside for me to take your picture? the light is perfect!”  he loves me a lot, even after I woke him up from a nap to drag him outside, and he agreed.  It was just too pretty in Nashville yesterday not to take some pictures of my family and the spring that was blossoming around us!

hope you are enjoying the lovely welcome spring is giving us!  I love capturing little memories like this in such wonderful weather!
